Chris Loves Julia x Loloi Rugs Review: A Designer's Perspective by Amethyst Home

The Amethyst team traveled to Dallas in late August to get a sneak peek of the brand new fall Chris Loves Julia x Loloi rug collection.  We have been following Chris Loves Julia for years and they are constantly blowing our minds with their kitchen garage cabinets, penny tile DIY hacks, and authentic pursuit of personal design.

Loloi Rugs is known for pushing the limits in rug construction -- we trust that our clients are going to get a high quality rug that is thoughtfully complex and timeless. -Monica

After helping thousands of families with rugs over the years — we're breaking down our must-haves from the collection and which ones we ordered for the shop!

Chris Rug

The Chris rug reminds me of some of my favorite casual, tonal stripe hemp rugs.

The fact that Chris Loves Julia has captured that Hemp look in a hooked wool construction is sooo thrilling!

Real hemp rugs aren’t known for being the most family friendly — sometimes they can bunch and they can be tricky to vacuum if you don’t have the technique nailed down. The Chris rug nails the balance of a clean light-toned rug with the practicality of a hooked wool style. -Monica

Known for its durability — a hooked wool construction is fabulous for any room in the house.

I love the Chris Natural/Sage Rug!! Green is totally in and I am here for it! I can see this rug working in every living and bedroom and it is such a timeless style. - Rachel

Humphrey Rug

The Humphrey plaid trend is here and I’m ready for it!  Soooo fun and happy for a bedroom or hangout spot.

The moment I saw this collection I knew it’d be on the top of my list to suggest to clients. It has a nice mix of vintage + modern — I could see this in a modern, sleek dining room or a warm, walnut vintage inspired living room. -Chandlar

This is a new type of material and construction from Loloi called “cloud pile”.  The only way to describe this texture is super soft like a sheepskin.

I love the Humphrey Natural/Moss! We were able to feel this in person and the trademarked cloud pile was sooo cozy!! I can picture myself curled up by a fire reading a book on this rug and I have to have it in my bedroom pronto 🤩 -Rachel

Honestly we can think of five ways to use every color — our top two colors for fall are Humphrey Natural / Moss & Humphrey Forest / Multi.

Francis Rug

The Francis collection is cool because it balances a matte wool look with a bit of sheen.  This is going to be really easy to vacuum and features Julia Marcum's signature checkerboard style!

I love the Francis Natural/Pebble! I love the subtle pattern while still having a nice monochromatic feel. I feel like this will be super forgiving as well for families who want the neutral aesthetic but are worried about having all white! -Rachel

Take a sneak peek at the close-ups of this once and see how elevated it looks from a traditional hooked rug!  The best part is these all come in amazing runner sizes.

I love the Francis Beige/Charcoal — I feel like it’s a fun spin on a timeless style. The coveted checker floor has made waves in the design world with its comeback, this rug is a great way to add character to any space. I tend to sway more toward quiet neutrals, but this collection is just enough risk while staying within my design comfort zone. -Chandlar
